A Note from Our Founders: Why We Made Rangoli That Stays

A Note from Our Founders: Why We Made Rangoli That Stays

Dear friends,

Every Diwali begins the same way in so many homes. Someone sits on the floor by the entrance with a box of colours, drawing a pattern from memory and filling it in, pinch by pinch. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the festival. And by the next morning, half of it has been walked through, swept up or blown away.

We have always loved that ritual. We just wished it didn't have to disappear so quickly.

Where The Drafted Craft began

For the past few months, we have been working on one simple question: what if a rangoli could stay? What if the colour, the pattern and the care that goes into it could be laid out in seconds, then folded away and brought back next year, and the year after that?

That question became The Drafted Craft. Every piece is made by hand in soft acrylic wool yarn, on a rexine base so it sits flat on your floor. Peacocks, mandalas, lotus swastiks, diyas, the sacred footprints that welcome Lakshmi home: the designs we grew up with, in colours that are still there in the morning.

What we care about

  • Made by hand. Every mat is crafted, not printed. You can see the work in every loop of yarn.
  • Made to come back. No powder, no sweeping, no starting from scratch. Roll it out, enjoy it, store it, repeat.
  • Made for your home. Most of our designs can be made in custom sizes and colours, so they fit your entrance, your pooja corner or your staircase.
  • Made to be given. We offer custom packaging, because a festive piece that lasts makes a thoughtful gift for family, friends and colleagues.

Our first festive collection

This Diwali, we are launching with 24 designs across four collections: statement rangoli for your entrance, flowing rangoli bales for corridors and living rooms, complete sets and pooja kits, and pooja essentials like chowki covers, a 3D lotus aasan and a Lord Ganesha wall hanging.

Some of them took several attempts to get right. Late evenings, yarn everywhere, and a lot of "one more try." We are proud of where they landed, and we hope they find a place in your home.

A small request

We are a young brand, and every order, message and photo means a great deal to us. If one of our pieces brightens your Diwali, send us a picture. We would love to see where it lives. And if you are looking for something we don't make yet, just ask. Some of our best ideas will come from you.

From our home to yours, wishing you a bright, beautiful and mess-free festive season.

With love,

Ankur & Supreet
